Tile Grouted, Appliances Installed, Plumbing Complete

Friday we toured the house and we were pleased to find the toilets, faucets, towel bars, and other fixtures had been installed.  The grout in the master bath has been done.  It has a nice contrast with the Truffle Field tile we selected.  Down in the basement, the plumber was making all of the connections to the main water supply.  The bathroom rough-in was finished up.  Floor drain was put in.  Water heater was installed.  We now have running hot and cold water.

In the kitchen, the appliances were being installed.  The gas stove, dishwasher, and garbage disposal are all in and working.  They attempted to install the range hood, but the unit they had was white so they were re-ordering a black one.

Outside, the gutters were put up.  They look good but we may need to relocate one of the downspouts since it will likely interfere with our future driveway expansion.

Hose spigots were also installed in our selected locations.

This week the trim carpenters are coming back to fix some issues and the painters are coming to do some touch up and to paint the baseboards, casings, and doors.  There were several trim issues we are hoping are resolved.  Some of which include crooked window trim, stair railings that do not line up, and a half-wall cap that looks like they used a butter knife to create the edge detail.

Hopefully all of these things will be corrected.  We are nearing the end!

  1. You're right--the contrast between the grout and the tile is gorgeous. And I love the listello in the master bath.

    1. Thank you! The grout will probably be hard to keep clean but we really love the contrast.

  2. Fabulous! We chose truffle field too for our master, I don't know what color the grout is, it wasn't a choice. I like the contrast too. Make sure you seal your grout before you use your bathroom, it will keep it cleaner and bright.

    1. We saw the truffle field in one of the models and really liked it. I think it's a great look, especially with the white grout. I agree, we should seal it, I've sealed grout before and haven't really noticed much difference. Maybe I need to use a better sealer.

    1. Thanks, we are nearing the end. Most issues have been addressed, but some still remain. Only 3 weeks to go, hopefully we will get everything taken care of.

  5. Home stretch. Is your closing date still good? It seems like you should be done sooner. You're down to carpet, driveways and sidewalks at this point right? Sod and landscaping isn't required for your COC. In our area (Southern Ohio) they are almost caught up from the winter builds on Sod and landscape. They are thinking starting with June deliveries they will be able to have closings with this done.

    1. We think it is:) We thought we would be done sooner as well. Driveway is in. Sidewalk and final grading need to be installed. Basically just touchups, carpet, stain on the railings, and the master bath shower door enclosure. The end is in sight!

  6. I love the listello in the bathroom not because we have the same one but because it's just gorgeous!! lol I just can't help wondering why they have chosen to use a wide gap for the grout on the floors. Every RH home they have done this to in the bathrooms. I have come to really appreciate it because it works so well with my grout color but sometimes I have to admit when I look down I get curious as to why they made it wider. I think it should be a choice of the customer.

Anyway, your home looks gorgeous! Everything looks very nice. I love the absolute black on the andover white vanity. Nice choice.

    1. Thank you! When I saw our floors I was actually happy that they didn't use the huge grout joint that seems to be typical. Believe it or not, the ones in the models in our area are about twice as wide as what we got. Was hoping to go diagonal with the tiles but it never came up and I didn't think about it until after the tiles were installed. We are very happy with the andover white with black granite. We've heard the black granite shows every water spot, but we still like the way it looks!

    2. We have the absolute black on cherry spice in basement and guest bath and we have the absolute black on the RUSHMORE butterscotch in our master. We keep a small towel on the vanity and wipe it down dry and it keeps water spots away.

  7. Looks great! The whole bathroom looks amazing! Hopefully the plumbing is all checked out and no complications arise after you guys move in. That would really dampen things, figuratively and literally.

  8. It looks amazing! The shower tiles look great, and the double sinks are definitely a great idea. Shouldn’t take too long now, since the plumbing and electricity are the hardest thing to install in the house, imo.
